The Cubism Collection in its new colour interpretations – alexandrite underlaid with aurora, and aquamarine underlaid with pink – was made to commemorate the milestone birthday of its celebrated designer, Rony Plesl. The vases and bowls bear the spirit of his favourite cubist paintings. “I love it when French cubism is united with Czech poetics. I’m enamoured by Bohumil Kubišta; I’m fascinated by the atmosphere of his paintings,” says Rony Plesl.

Winter is a time of silence and light. Here, the beauty of glass truly shines – with its depth, purity, and colours. Designed by Rony Plesl, one of the most prominent contemporary designers, these cubist vases and bowls were derived from his fascination with French and Czech cubism. We drew inspiration from cubist shapes, geometry, and rhythm, which he brought to glass. They’re pieces that don’t quicken time. Quite the opposite – they invite one to stop, to quietly observe the changes in light and colours, capable of illuminating even the shortest of winter days.

“The Moser colours are unmatched and utterly magical when combined. The ones I selected feel very contemporary. They stand out in fully modern interiors, and beautifully breathe life into the original collection,” says the designer.

Rony Plesl brought to glass the same elements as cubists depicted on canvases and in architecture: the ambiguity of shape, permeating perspectives, and courageous breaks in mass and light. They’re masterpieces by Moser’s cutters, who create them without a template, so-called “free-handing”, a method just as free as the cubist artists themselves.
