Rony Plesl

Designer, sculptor, professor

He studied at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Železný Brod, then at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he later began teaching himself. He became head of the Glass Studio and was appointed professor.

He works with the unique glass melting technology Vitrum Vivum. He creates monumental sculptures, drawing from a variety of artistic styles—particularly from Baroque. He has a deep sensitivity to sacred architecture and sculpture, and he contemplates the desires people once had, what transcended them, and what they placed their hopes in—all of which is reflected in his work.

At the same time, he is also a designer of beer mugs for a number of beer brands, including Budweiser Budvar and Pilsner Urquell. He is also the author of the crystal film award Český lev. In 2025, you will be exhibiting your glass sculptures and drinking glassware at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

For the Moser glassworks, he designed the Poppy Head drinkware collection and the Cubism collection. In 2025, the vases and bowls from the Cubism collection, previously monochrome, received stunning underlay shades in the tones of cubist still lifes. The new collection was created to mark the life jubilee of Rony Plesl.
