The architecturally precise crystal pieces play with the light as a constructive element – they guide it, afford it rhythm, and provide its clear direction. The inspiration is derivative of modern architecture, where the structure itself becomes an ornament.

    Laurids Gallée

Based in Rotterdam, the Austrian designer likes to experiment with his creations, using various materials and crossing the line between traditional and modernism. The Axis Collection is his first endeavour working with glass, while some of Laurids Gallée’s other works have been displayed in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, amongst others. The designer has created for luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Hermès. The glassworks’ collaboration with such a distinguished personality of global design fulfils the long-time vision of Moser’s Creative Director, Jan Plecháč.

    Architectural precision of crystal objects

The wedge cuts are the key element of the limited Axis Collection, placing extreme demands on precision; they must be etched with a tolerance of no more than a tenth of a millimetre so that the surfaces and angles connect perfectly. Only then is the unique visual effect complete. The wedge cuts create a strictly geometric shape that works with light, and any, even the slightest deviation, is immediately visible. The vase is an artisanal challenge for the glassmaker even at the furnace, where they use only their breath to form the perfectly round core. The Moser colour rosalin is on full display in all its transformations for the Axis Collection: from deep brick pink tones to shades so soft, they’re nearly lost in the clear crystal. Each of these limited collector’s editions is signed by the designer, stamped with the Moser glassworks logo, and bears a unique limited number. It’s then elegantly packaged and shipped alongside a certificate of authenticity.

    Miroslav Maděra

Miroslav Maděra graduated from the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Světlá nad Sázavou. Virtually his entire professional life has been spent at the Moser glassworks, where he’s worked since 1996. Here he’s been able to harness his creative talents, a feeling for the glass, patience, and precision. He’s achieved total excellence in the field of glass cutting, and at the glassworks, he helps create the most challenging pieces – for instance, he cut the half-metre-tall vases from the Splendid Collection. However, he most enjoys working on new pieces that he sees as professional challenges.
