Abyss is one of the most demanding works ever produced at Moser. "For me, it’s the embodiment of human abilities when creating crystal objects. For the glassmakers and cutters, it’s an enormous challenge; I’m proud of them for achieving it," says designer Jan Plecháč. Its original aquamarine colour is now joined by the anniversary edition in uranium.

Abyss bowl, 21.5 cm, gloss, uranium is part of the ultra-limited Echoes collection, created to celebrate both the 100th anniversary of the Moser boutique at Na Příkopě in Prague and a century of Moser’s signature colours.

A century of colours. A century in the heart of Prague.

The Moser boutique at Na Příkopě is celebrating 100 years of existence, making it one of the longest-running shops in a single location in Prague. It opened in 1925 on the ground floor of the Černá růže palace. Nine years later, it expanded to the first floor, into the beautiful premises of the former apartment of the prominent entrepreneurial Bondy family. The treasured Neo-Renaissance interior has remained preserved to this day. Over the past century, the boutique has welcomed countless distinguished visitors, from members of royal families and heads of state to luminaries from the worlds of film and sport.

We've chosen to mark this milestone by creating the ultra-limited Echoes collection. Moser's Creative Director has assembled a unique collection featuring iconic historical masterpieces alongside his contemporary works, presenting them in two extraordinary new shades – nephrite green and uranium. In doing so, he continues the groundbreaking colour experiments pioneered by his predecessor, Leo Moser, in the 1920s.

    Uranium

Uranium is the second colour selected by Moser Creative Director, Jan Plecháč, for the anniversary collection Echoes. 100 years ago, under the name ‘radion’, Leo Moser worked with this tone, as indicated in his surviving journals, company catalogues, and, most importantly, his captivating sample book. The yellow-green molten glass is recorded in the annals of glassmaking art just as much as the then-artistically styled Art Deco. Jan Plecháč boldly utilised uranium in both his 19th-century gems and his latest works. And the effect is perfection. Any cut crystal featuring this colour immediately draws attention to itself, accentuating its uniqueness. Even the glasses from Moser’s historic heritage appear ultra-modern in shades of uranium.
