The Pineapple Vase

A masterfully crafted game of lights

Prague, June 28, 2022: The Moser Glassworks in Karlovy Vary is adding a symbol of friendship, hospitality, warmth, as well as success to its portfolio of unique products - the Pineapple vase. The new product looks exceptional thanks to its realistic design resembling pineapple’s spiny flowers and a well-thought-out combination of colors. The honey-colored topaz glass with a slight hint of green is underlined by an elaborate vertically cut design created by Lukáš Jabůrek, the author of the Pineapple's predecessor - the iconic Pear vase.

The Pineapple vase combines deep symbolism with craftsmanship. Its production takes dozens of hours. Master glass makers start off with almost 15 kilograms of glass on the blowpipe before the glassblowing phase. The semi-finished product weighs more than 7 kilograms before grinding, and the master grinder then spends long hours creating deep quadrangular shapes while using incredible patience and precision. The final product weighs 5 kilograms, measures 29.5 centimeters in height and is refined by a vertical cut. The precisely cut diamond shapes on its surface offer a harmonical display of optical and light effects which varies when the vase is observed from different angles. You will also be impressed when looking at the bottom of the vase, especially by the striking resemblance the product has to the pineapple fruit.

For many centuries, exotic fruits have symbolized hospitality, a festive atmosphere, a warm welcome as well as an abundant harvest. Thanks to its unique appearance, a pineapple commonly functioned as a decorative centerpiece on tables of royalty. The entire surface of a pineapple’s skin is divided into three spirals and the number of spirals is in alignment with the Fibonacci sequence. This natural phenomenon is embodied in the vase and makes Moser’s Pineapple a true piece of art that amazes every glass lover and stands out wherever it is on display. Starting July 2022, it will be possible to order the vase in all Moser Glassworks galleries or at www.moser.com. The 21-centimeter version of the Pineapple vase will also be available.
