Moser Celebrates Rony Plesl: The Iconic Cubism Collection Returns in New Shades
Karlovy Vary, September 16, 2025 – Moser Glassworks pays tribute to Rony Plesl on the occasion of his milestone anniversary and introduces the iconic Cubism collection in new color variations. Originally created by Plesl for Moser in 2009, the collection now appears in alexandrite underlaid with aurora and aquamarine underlaid with pink – shades that accentuate the monumental beauty of forms inspired by Czech Cubism.
“Where emotion ends, my design ends,” says Rony Plesl. “I drew on my love for French Cubism, and above all, Czech Cubism.”
Czech Cubism in Glass
The collection pays homage to a style that left a deeper mark in the Czech lands than in France, where it was born. Bold and distinctive, Czech Cubism permeated architecture, painting, furniture, and glass – finding in glass its freedom and soul. The designer translated into crystal what Cubist artists expressed on canvas and in architecture: multiplicity of form, overlapping perspectives, daring fragmentation of mass and light.
Thanks to the hand-cutting mastery of Moser’s artisans, this Cubist philosophy becomes tangible. Cutting is not merely a technique – it is a statement. Each line is guided by hand, without templates, allowing light to unfold a new dimension.
New Color Interpretations
Alexandrite underlaid with aurora: The body of the vase and bowl transitions from deep violet hues into soft pink, culminating in tones reminiscent of a sunset. The rhythmic faceting works in harmony with light refraction, lending the forms renewed dynamism.
Aquamarine underlaid with pink: A rich blue base gradually shifts into pink, transforming into violet. Each piece carries its own melody of light refraction, appearing as a sculpturally carved monolith.
A Dialogue Between Craft and Emotion
“I have spent my entire life in glassworks, and I feel most at home among glassmakers. In the hotshop, functions and titles disappear. What matters to everyone is a good result,” says Rony Plesl. The result is a fragile monumentality that speaks the language of tradition while envisioning the future. “Moser stands for nobility, style, and craftsmanship.”
From the crystalline Cubist forms and nuanced colors emanate freedom and authenticity – each piece a personal statement, a quiet dialogue between craft and emotion.
