The desired motif is first drawn on fine paper and then traced onto the vase or possibly even a glass block. Long weeks and even months are spent by the artist on some of the more challenging engravings. The result and its perfection are key.

We make the Pineapple vase out of crystal glass in shades of topaz and reseda, with the greenish colour starting in the top part. To avoid tension in the glass’s mass, the vase has to be cooled in a special oven overnight.
Weight: 10 kg

We remove the upper head from the crystal semi-finished product and cut off the body using a sharp diamond wheel. Next, we grind down the lower crown and modify the top edge to the correct height. We then mark the outline to be cut with a water-resistant marker.
Weight: 7.5-8.5 kg

The roughest grinding wheel is used to give the vase its basic shape. This wheel removes the most material, bringing the future Pineapple vase down to about 1/3 of its original weight.
Weight: 5-6 kg

Further cutting is then made using special wheels. They have a lower grain roughness, making them distinctly gentler than those used in rough cutting.

The refining process gives the vase its final outline. This step is also key for quality and precise polishing. The vase’s rim undergoes the so-called “trimming” process, ensuring it’s no longer sharp.

The basic polish is applied by skilled hands and special synthetic polyurethane wheels. Water and a soft pumice stone also help along the process.

Felt discs are used to give the vase its high gloss, which is supplemented by a cerium oxide solution. After this step, the work of art has reached its final form.

Precisely positioned and perfectly ground segments come alive during long hours of focused effort. The master proceeds very slowly, with the utmost care, and only with such care, he can tie all the edges and tips precisely.
