"Partners in Health Care," St. Louis Business Journal, Vol. 27 No. 49 pg. 27
by Andrea Mongler

Peter Spataro
Attorneys - St. Louis Business Journal - August 3, 2007
Principal - Moser & Marsalek P.C.

Job description: I defend professional liability claims for physicians, hospitals and other allied health-care providers.

Health-care clients he's worked with: Washington University School of Medicine, Intermed Insurance Co., ProAssurance Insurance Co., Medical Protective Co., CNA Insurance, Tenet Healthcare.

Firm's revenue: In the range of $8 million.

Some professional accomplishments: Some of my favorite cases over the years leading to successful verdicts have been for Washington University medical school, which has provided me very challenging cases: Repple v. WU, involving a woman who developed quadriplegia after giving birth; Ottinger v. WU, involving complications from a heart transplant; Ferrara v. WU, involving complications from bariatric surgery of a prominent St. Louisan; Meyer v. WU, involving a young man suffering neurologic injury after prolonged use of an anesthetic agent; and Joyner v. WU, involving the death of former Olympian Florence Griffith Joyner.

Would have been nice to know before he started his current job:
Practicing a heavy docket of medical malpractice litigation means you need to know medicine nearly as well as the physicians we represent. And we have to learn the intricacies of obstetrics one day, neurosurgery another and cardiology the next.
