Moser & Marsalek P.C. has retained skilled and aggressive attorneys to represent the rights of its clients since 1925, and this year the firm added to those professionals three new lawyers: Timothy F. McCurdy, Morgan C. Murphy, and Andrew S. Eastman. These three attorneys bring both experience and eagerness to the firm, and to the vigorous representation of their clients, as members of the firm's Medical & Health Care Litigation group.

"We're excited at the hire of each new attorney," said Phil Willman, the firm's managing partner. "From Tim's experience and ability to serve a variety of clients' needs, to Morgan's and Andrew's diligence and attention to detail, we're confident each will make an immediate contribution to our clients."

Timothy F. McCurdy prides himself on the priority he attaches to client service: "A key aspect of litigation work is to always recognize it is not "your" case; it's your client's case. Communication with clients is one of the most important aspects of my representation. It is important that the client be involved and informed throughout the litigation process." He brings a decade of experience to his practice, as both a defense-firm litigator and solo practitioner, and relies on the unique perspective his experience affords him to counsel clients through every stage of litigation. He also enjoys the resources available to him at the firm: "Moser provides a unique combination of highly-skilled practitioners and staff with a dedication to representing their clients, in a collegial atmosphere."

Morgan C. Murphy recently graduated from the Washington University School of Law, where she worked in law clinics and legal aid positions to assist low-income St. Louisans navigate the judicial process. She brings the lessons she learned through her work there - the importance of fairly and accurately assessing facts and case law, and ensuring that clients stay informed of their case's progress - to her representation of physicians and health care providers as an attorney with Moser & Marsalek, a position she enjoys, in part, because of her clients: "The doctors with whom we work are extremely well-educated and knowledgeable," she says. "Our clients help teach us about the work they do, which better equips us to defend them." Moreover, the work she does on behalf of the firm's clients is rewarding, and intellectually engaging. Ms. Murphy explains, "Medical negligence work in particular is very interesting because I am constantly learning something new, often from the best doctors in their fields."

Andrew S. Eastmanjoined the firm as a law clerk while a student at the Saint Louis University School of Law, from which he graduated in 2011, with a concentration in civil litigation. As an attorney, he enjoys the different challenges and opportunities inherent in practicing law: "Lawyers get to do a bit of everything, from tracking down and assembling information like detectives, to describing that information through pleadings like journalists." In addition, Mr. Eastman enjoys working with the firm's physician and health care provider clients because of their engagement throughout the litigation process: he believes representing physicians is an especially rewarding area of the law because of the technical nature of the evidence involved. "Defending our clients against charges of medical negligence requires a thorough understanding of the medicine involved," Mr. Eastman believes. "Often, the best person to learn about that medicine from is the client himself or herself. That kind of client partnership is very satisfying."

Timothy F. McCurdyagrees: "Physicians are unique clients because they are highly educated, extremely dedicated individuals, who are also going through an intensely personal experience. It can be truly rewarding to stand beside physicians and defend them."
